Tolland, CT Trail-head The Schindler/Schmidt Conservation area is a 123 acre parcel in Tolland. On this trip we hiked the Yellow/Black blazed trail (1.8m). This is another great place for a short hike. The terrain is more moderate than some of the other places we've hiked in town. There are two more trails, one of which is marked as difficult, that we'll explore next time we visit. This time we just did the outer loop and the spur trail out to the scenic rock. Our map. Conserving Tolland put out a walk book containing all the maps of the trails in town. It's really cool because the maps are small, they're laminated, so they're waterproof and they are bound by a small carabiner. You can take just the map/maps you need with you on the trail.
